Whey protein is believed to have an excellent amino acid profile and almost all plant-based proteins have inferior amino acids profiles, however by combining different plant-based proteins you can obtain a supplement with an excellent amino acid profile similar to whey, this is exactly what Ultra Nutrition have done by combining 5 different plant-based proteins in our plant-based products.

Whey based products

Whey protein is derived from the cheese making process, its where the term ‘curds and whey’ comes from. It is cold processed to remove the fat, sugar and casein protein, leaving a high percentage protein whey powder. Ultra Nutrition only use natural flavours in our products.

Yes, whey protein is a brilliant source of protein. It is classed as a ‘complete protein’, this means it contains ALL amino acids. The amino acids are also present in preferable quantities to help ensure the protein is efficiently and rapidly absorbed.

We only use the best ingredients in our products which is why all of our whey protein comes from grass fed cows.

There are 3 main methods for processing protein, which is why you see different types, the 3 most common processed whey proteins are: concentrate, isolate and hydrolysate. Ultra Nutrition products containing whey protein contain all 3 types as they are all slightly different and have their own benefits.

We use a combination of concentrate, isolate and hydrolysed whey proteins. All 3 have various beneficial attributes so we combine them to make an amazing product.

We think you should consume 2 grams of protein per 1 kg of body weight in total as a minimum. So, if you weight 80kg, you should consume 160g of protein. This protein should come from a variety of sources to help ensure you get a broad range of amino acids. Different foods are high in different amino acids so by varying your protein sources you should get a good cross section of amino acids. Aim to get most of your protein from whole food sources and top it up with supplements like Ultra Protein and Ultra Complete. It is important to have a steady supply throughout the day to ensure you constantly have an available pool of amino acids.

This is a difficult figure to say exactly, its important to remember we are all different and depending on several factors we will absorb protein differently. Someone who is super healthy that keeps their vitamin and mineral levels at optimal levels should absorb protein more efficiently than someone who is in poor health. If you say someone that is 80kg needs 160g of protein per day and has that across 5- 6 meals or snacks that’s approximately 30g per serving and a sensible approach.

Ultra Nutrition has whey protein in chocolate and strawberry and both taste amazing. They also mix easily and work well if added to baking recipes, you can see lots of ideas on our meal ideas page.

Plant-based products

The proteins sources used are pea, brown rice, hemp, pumpkin seed and quinoa protein. We use this blend of plant-based protein to ensure we have a fantastic amino acid profile that is high in leucine and lysine.

Plant-based protein are not ‘complete’ when used in isolation (except soy and quinoa but they have poor amino acid profiles), that means they do not contain all the amino acids required to be classed as ‘complete’ proteins.Ultra Nutrition plant-based proteins contain a blend of 5 different types of plant-based protein. This ensures that all amino acids are present and in quantities similar to whey protein. The amino acid profile present in Ultra Nutrition supplements ensures that the protein can be absorbed efficiently and utilised by the body.

Plant-based protein is derived from plants. Plants are processed to remove the carbohydrates and left with just the protein, this is then used to produce supplements. Ultra Nutrition plant-based proteins combine a number of different protein sources to deliver an optimal amino acid profile which is readily absorbed by your body.

Ultra Nutrition’s blend of plant-based proteins is fantastic. Different plant-based protein have different benefits and different amino acids profiles. By combining them in the way we do in our supplements we ensure that the best quality plant-based available.

We love all flavours of Ultra Nutrition protein, but our customer favourite is doughnut flavour. All flavours are great, especially when added to porridge or used for baking.

All plant-based products are suitable for vegans as is Ultra Daily.

We recommend consuming protein from a wide range of sources so alternate between flavours and plant-based/whey protein.
